Talking Nice

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

I have three dogs and they will bark and yap and run around when they see someone walking in the street past their yard.

Yesterday, my husband watched a neighbor walk her small dog by.  She takes a walk several times a day.  He herded two of our dogs in, but the big brute male stayed out.   (He can be the most obnoxious, jumping against the fence, wolfing, spinning around, jumping up again.)

Well, our  neighbor knows him, apparently.  She calls him “Big Boy.” And he likes it.  My husband tells me she addressed his interest with “Hi Big Boy”  and Gordy was mute and silly.  (Love?)  He spun around, did a turn around the yard, ran back to the fence, all with nary a wolf!

What a nice neighbor to have.

Fun web site.

Key words: “Remember, if your dog gets irritated or confused, take a break and try again later.”

Spay Day Survey

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The spay day survey results:

112 respondents, 53 dogs got fixed, 59 cats got fixed

Three main questions were:

Do you adopt from shelters?  The yes no split was close to 50-50

Would you visit a dog park if Billings had one?  60% yes, 40% no

Do you visit the Billings Animal Shelter?  40% yes, 60% no

Huge thanks to the 10 area Veterinarians who participated in Spay Day USA.  Veterinarians make it happen.

Sat Nav collars

Cool collars!

One way to track down a lost pet. I guess the next step is making chips readable/trackable in this fashion.
